When spring comes to North Carolina, we often find ourselves happy to see the cold temperatures go, but we all know that when those cold temperatures go, that means warmer temperatures come to take their place, bringing with them severe storms that many times contain hail and/or tornado damage. Hail is one of the most common forms of environmental damage to roofing materials. Hail damage is so widespread that in the U.S. alone, it costs close to $1 billion each year in insurance claims.
Even a moderate hailstorm can cause damage to a roof. The tricky part of assessing this damage is that it may not be obvious immediately after the storm, and different types of roofing materials will experience different kinds of damage.
You will need a good roofing company to come in and assess the damage and be able to provide you with the necessary storm damage services needed to handle your insurance claim.
If you are a homeowner looking for a trustworthy roofing company, there’s a good chance your property has been damaged in a recent storm. Due to the severity of weather, thousands of roofs are replaced every year due to hail and wind damage. These roof replacements are typically covered by most homeowners’ insurance policies.
A quality roofing company should know the “ins and outs” of the insurance claims process to best help the members of their community. If your roofing contractor is unable to explain your insurance claim in plain English, you may want to speak to an American Roofing representative.
For many of our customers, a hail/wind claim is the first and last claim they will ever file on their homeowner’s insurance policy. Having a good understanding of this process allows our field representatives to best help homeowners maximize the return on their insurance investments.
If you have recently filed a claim with your insurance company, received an insurance settlement, or would just like to know whether it makes sense to pursue an insurance claim, American Roofing and our team of claims specialists can help. Call us today and a representative who is well-versed in the claims process will be able to help you in as little as 24 hours.
Five Steps in the Insurance Claim Process
1. Get a roof inspection from a reputable local roofing company:
Choosing a roofing company can be a challenge – especially after a storm. There are hundreds of roofing companies out there – all promising something different. And then there is dealing with your insurance company, which might even deny any roofing damage at all. American Roofing aims to make the process simple. We, after all, are in the business of making customers happy
2. If you have a damage make a claim with your insurance:
An American Roofing professional inspects your roof. We will do a comprehensive inspection and take detailed notes and pictures of all damages to your roof. With your inspection report in hand you can file your claim on your homeowner’s policy with confidence. Your insurance company will likely ask you if your roof has already been inspected and if you have selected a contractor. Keep in mind, you can work with any roofing company you wish. It is entirely your choice.
3. We meet with your insurance adjuster:
When they inspect the roof together, they are more likely to be on the same page about what will be covered by insurance. This will save you a lot of back and forth phone calls. And you will be able to get the project started more quickly.
4. Schedule your roof replacement with your selected roofing company:
At this point in the process, our customers are assigned a Project Manager who is the homeowner’s point of contact for the duration of the project. Typical roof replacements take 1-2 days, start to finish. You are not required to be home when the work is being done.
5. Your deductible should buyout only out-of-pocket expense:
Your insurance company will cut you a check and once your roof work is done you will pay that to your roofing contractor. A reputable company will not require money up front to do your roof.
